Types of parking blocks

  • Car wheel stoppers: blocks fixed at the back of a parking bay so the wheel stops before the wall, pillar or walkway. Rubber stoppers come in 500 mm, 600 mm, 1000 mm and 1800 mm lengths, most with yellow reflective tape; a 550 mm UV stabilised polyethylene stopper is also listed.
  • Wheel chocks: wedges placed against a tyre so a parked car, truck or trailer cannot roll, used at loading bays and on slopes. Solid rubber chocks from about 3 kg to 13 kg and a light plastic chock are listed.
  • Wheel clamp lock: a locking clamp that holds a car wheel so it cannot be driven away, for parking enforcement and security.
  • No Parking floor sign: a folding A frame sign, printed on both sides, to keep a spot or gate clear.

How to choose a wheel stopper or wheel chock

  • Stopper length: a 500 mm to 600 mm stopper is fitted one per wheel (two per bay). Longer stoppers of 1000 mm to 1800 mm cover both wheels with one piece.
  • Material: rubber stoppers are heavier and take daily use; plastic ones are lighter to handle.
  • Chock size: match the chock to the vehicle. Lighter chocks suit cars; heavier rubber chocks suit trucks and trailers at loading bays.
  • Fixing: wheel stoppers are bolted to the floor; some come with an installation kit.
  • Visibility: pick black and yellow stoppers or ones with reflective tape so drivers can see them while reversing.

Fix the stopper far enough from the wall that the back of the car does not touch the wall when the wheel meets the stopper. Leave a gap so rain water can drain past the stopper.

Parking Blocks FAQs

Quick answers to what buyers ask us most. For anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is a car wheel stopper?

It is a rubber or plastic block bolted at the back of a parking bay. The wheel touches it and stops, so the car does not hit the wall, pillar or walkway behind.

How many wheel stoppers do I need per parking bay?

With 500 mm to 600 mm stoppers, use two per bay, one for each rear wheel. A single long stopper of 1000 mm or more can cover both wheels.

What is the difference between a wheel stopper and a wheel chock?

A wheel stopper is fixed to the floor to mark where a car should stop. A wheel chock is placed against a tyre by hand so a parked vehicle cannot roll.

Which wheel chock is right for trucks?

Use a heavier solid rubber chock for trucks and trailers at loading bays. Send us the vehicle type and we will suggest a model.

Are the prices on this page final?

No. Each product shows a starting price as a guide, before GST. The final price comes with your quote.
