  • Steam and hot oil splash suits: the HICARE Steamsafe coat and pant for boilers, refineries and food plants.

How to choose a safety suit

  • Match the suit to one hazard: an arc flash suit, a chemical suit and a heat suit are built very differently, and one does not replace another.
  • Arc flash rating: pick the cal rating from your electrical study or the incident energy at the panel. The rating shown is the maker's rating.
  • Coverage: decide whether you need a complete kit or only the parts at risk, such as an apron, hood or sleeves.
  • Work with other PPE: suits are worn with the right gloves, face protection and footwear, so plan the whole kit together.
  • Inspect before use: do not use a suit that is torn, contaminated or has a damaged visor.

Safety Suits FAQs

Ask on WhatsApp
What does cal mean on an arc flash suit?

Cal is short for cal/cm², the amount of heat energy from an arc flash that the clothing is rated to handle by its maker. A higher number means a heavier, more protective kit, and the right level comes from your electrical study.

Can I buy only the hood or jacket of an arc flash suit?

Yes. The HICARE arc flash suit is sold as a complete kit or as parts such as jacket, trouser, bib overall, hood with visor and gloves.

Which suit is used for liquid nitrogen?

A cryogenic suit, such as the HICARE cryogenic suit or the Udyogi cryo suit and apron. Wear it with cryogenic gloves and a face shield.

What is the difference between aluminised and aramid heat clothing?

Aluminised clothing has a shiny outer layer that reflects radiant heat near furnaces and molten metal. Plain aramid or preox-aramid clothing is lighter and suits hot process areas with less radiant heat.

Are the prices on this page final?

No. Each product shows a starting price as a guide, before GST. The final price comes with your quote and depends on the options and quantity.
