Types of protective clothing

Body protection ranges from simple workwear that keeps dirt off to multi-layer garments for one specific hazard. The range here covers:

  • Coveralls and boiler suits: Karam work coveralls in regular and premium grades, navy blue or orange, with or without reflective tape, in sizes S to XXXL.
  • Hi-vis workwear: the Mallcom Jesenice stretch coverall, Pamplona fleece jacket for cold weather and Semic shorts, all with reflective tape.
  • Rainwear: Acme Target, Excellence and Aquashield rain suits (pant and jacket) and the Brite long raincoat, in polyester with a nitrile PVC coating, for site and field staff.
  • Lab coats: the Udyogi 210 GSM cotton coat for labs, QC rooms and colleges, and the Splash Shield coat for chemical splash.
  • Welding aprons and leg guards: Udyogi aramid bib aprons and leg guards for welding sparks, grinding and foundry work.
  • Flame resistant workwear: Portwest Bizflame and Bizweld jacket and trouser sets, Mallcom FR jackets and coveralls, and Karam IFR coveralls.
  • Specialist safety suits: arc flash kits, chemical suits, aluminised and preox-aramid heat clothing, cryogenic suits and steam splash suits.

How to choose body protection

  • Start with the hazard: dirt and grease need a plain coverall; traffic and moving vehicles need reflective tape; splashes need a coated or laminated fabric; heat, cold and arc flash need a garment made for that job.
  • Full suit or part: many lines come as separate parts (jacket, trouser, apron, sleeves, hood), so you can cover only the area at risk.
  • Fit: clothing that is too loose can catch in machines, and too tight tears. Collect sizes for each worker before ordering.
  • Climate and comfort: breathable cotton for hot shop floors, fleece for cold sites, rainwear for the monsoon.
  • Care: wash and store garments as the maker says, and replace any that are torn, burnt or soaked with chemicals.

Body Protection FAQs

Quick answers to what buyers ask us most. For anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is the difference between a coverall and a boiler suit?

They are the same thing: a one-piece garment that covers the body, arms and legs over normal clothes. Coveralls with reflective tape are used where workers must be seen by vehicles.

Which protective clothing is used in a laboratory?

A lab coat. A cotton coat suits general lab and QC work, and a splash resistant coat such as the Udyogi Splash Shield suits areas where chemicals are poured or mixed.

Can I buy only a jacket or apron instead of a full suit?

Yes. Many lines here are sold by part, such as jacket, trouser, apron, sleeves or hood. Pick the part in the options before you send the enquiry.

Do coveralls come in big sizes?

Karam coveralls come in sizes S to XXXL. Send the sizes for each worker with your enquiry.

Are the prices on this page final?

No. Each product shows a starting price as a guide, before GST. The final price comes with your quote and depends on the options and quantity.
