What is lockout tagout?
Lockout tagout (LOTO) keeps machines and lines switched off while people work on them. The energy source is isolated, a lock is put on the switch, breaker or valve so it cannot be turned back on, and a tag shows who locked it and why. Each worker uses a personal lock and keeps the only key.
LOTO devices and what they do
- Safety padlocks: keyed-different personal locks with a steel, nylon or non-conductive (dielectric) shackle.
- Lockout hasps: let several workers put their own lock on one isolation point.
- MCB and circuit breaker lockouts: hold breakers in the off position in panels and DBs.
- Valve lockouts: cover ball valve handles and gate valve wheels; universal lockouts fit many handles.
- Cable lockouts: tie down odd-shaped or several points with one padlock.
- Danger tags: name, date and reason on every lock.
- Kits and stations: a carry kit for the maintenance team, or a wall station near the machines.
How to choose
List the isolation points in your plant (panels, MCBs, valves, plugs), count the people who work on them at the same time, and pick devices to match. A small kit suits one technician; maintenance teams usually need a larger kit or a station plus extra padlocks. Send us your list on WhatsApp and we will suggest the set.
