Types of corner guards and wall guards

  • L shape corner guards: black rubber angle pieces, 8 mm to 10 mm thick, fixed on the corner of a square pillar or wall. They come in 500 mm, 800 mm, 900 mm, 1000 mm, 1200 mm and 1250 mm lengths, most with yellow reflective tape.
  • Round corner guards: 30 mm thick rounded rubber guards for a softer, thicker cushion on busy corners.
  • Column guards: rubber guards with wide flaps that cover a column corner, fixed with screws.
  • Wall guards: flat rubber strips, about 1000 mm long, fixed on parking and garage walls to protect car doors and bumpers. Some carry reflective arrows; a rounded flexible model is also listed.

How to choose a corner guard

  • Pillar shape: use an L shape guard on square pillars and wall corners. Use a round guard where you want a thicker cushion.
  • Length: 800 mm to 1000 mm covers bumper and door height on most cars; longer guards suit taller vehicles and loading areas.
  • Thickness: thicker rubber absorbs more of a knock; 8 mm to 10 mm suits car parking.
  • Visibility: pick guards with yellow reflective tape so the corner shows up in a dark basement.
  • Fixing: guards are fixed with screws and anchors; some come with a fixing kit.

Start with the pillars next to ramps, turns and parking bays, where cars come closest, and then cover the rest. In a basement, guards on every pillar along the driving lane make the route easier to follow in low light, because the reflective tape shows the line of pillars ahead.
