Types of traffic baton lights
A traffic baton light is a hand-held LED wand. Waved by a guard or marshal, it shows drivers when to stop, slow down or move on in the dark, at a gate, a parking entry or a checkpoint.
- Red LED batons: a single red light to signal stop and to mark the person on the road. Kunplast batons come in 18 inch and 21 inch; Dark Eye has the DA-101 red model.
- Red and green batons: one colour to stop and the other to go, often with steady and blinking modes. H2 has 11 inch and 21 inch models; KT Automation has a 52 cm baton with a torch at the end.
- Rechargeable or battery: rechargeable batons (Ladwas 20 inch, Dark Eye DA-107, H2 and Kunplast rechargeable models) suit daily night shifts. Battery models run on cells, which may not be included.
- With a magnet: the H2 11 inch models have a magnet so the baton can be stuck on a vehicle or gate.
How to choose a baton light
- Length: a longer baton (20 to 21 inch) is easier to see from far away on roads. A shorter one (11 inch) is handy for parking staff and guards on foot.
- Colour: pick red and green if your staff need to signal both stop and go.
- Power: rechargeable for daily use by the same team; battery models for occasional use or spare sets.
- Pack: several models come in packs of 2, 3 or 4 for a full shift.
