Types of coveralls

  • Disposable coveralls: Portwest BizTex hooded microporous coveralls, ST40 white (Type 5 / 6, maker's rating) and ST70 yellow (Type 3 / 4 / 5 / 6, maker's rating). Breathable and thrown away after use, for dust, painting and light liquid work.
  • Chemical splash coveralls: Udyogi Splash Shield SS200, SS200BT with shoe cover, and SS300 with taped seams. Hooded, breathable and anti-static, with elastic hood, cuffs and ankles, for light chemical splash, dust and paint spray.
  • Flame retardant cotton coverall: Udyogi navy blue coverall in treated 100% cotton whose FR finish lasts through washing.
  • Inherently flame resistant coverall: Karam IFR coverall in orange, with or without reflective tape. The fabric itself resists flame, so the property does not wash out.
  • FR workwear: Mallcom CELGIC two tone FR jacket, Paris two tone FR coverall, and hi-vis green Nantes FR jacket and Lommel FR trouser, designed for work near radiant, convective and contact heat.
  • Work coveralls (boiler suits): Karam regular and premium grades in navy blue or orange, with or without reflective tape, in sizes S to XXXL.

How to choose a coverall

  • Hazard: general dirt and grease need a work coverall; dust, paint spray and light splash need a disposable or splash coverall; heat and flame risk areas need FR or IFR wear.
  • Use and wash: disposable coveralls are for one job; cotton and IFR coveralls are washed and worn daily. Follow the maker's washing guide for FR wear.
  • Visibility: choose reflective tape or hi-vis colours for work near vehicles, at night or in poor light.
  • Fit: pick a size that allows bending and reaching without pulling tight; a loose fit over clothes is normal.
  • Complete the kit: add gloves, shoe covers or safety shoes, and a mask or respirator where needed.

Coveralls FAQs

Quick answers to what buyers ask us most. For anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is the difference between FR and IFR coveralls?

An FR coverall is made of fabric treated with a flame retardant finish, such as the Udyogi cotton coverall. An IFR coverall, such as the Karam IFR, is made of fabric that is flame resistant by nature, so the property does not wash out.

What do Type 5 and Type 6 mean on disposable coveralls?

They are the maker's rating for the kind of exposure the coverall is designed for: Type 5 for dry dust and Type 6 for light liquid splash. The Portwest ST70 also carries Type 3 and 4 (maker's rating) for heavier liquid exposure.

Which coverall is used for painting?

A disposable coverall such as the Portwest BizTex ST40 or the Udyogi Splash Shield SS200 suits paint spray work.

Do you have coveralls with reflective tape?

Yes. Karam work coveralls and the Karam IFR coverall come with or without reflective tape, and Mallcom has hi-vis FR jackets and trousers.

Are the prices on this page final?

No. Each product shows a starting price as a guide, before GST. The final price comes with your quote.
